We just wanted to take moment, and let y'all know that we are taking everything that is currently going on very seriously. Any package that comes in or goes out of the shop gets positively bombarded with Lysol and Clorox disinfectants, so as to maintain our safety, as well as our customer's safety. Our already very clean shop has ramped up it's cleaning protocols. It's no joke to us at all-Yesterday when the shop was closed, you could almost choke a goat with the amount of disinfectant that was used on all touched(and potentially touched)surfaces. We love you all so much, and want to keep you as safe as we would keep our own families. God bless and stay safe!
Even with all the craziness surrounding us all these days, we have decided to continue on with our scheduled in-store Easter Bunny event this Sunday, March 29. We want to help give parents the opportunity to still get their annual Easter pictures, and to give the babies a little normal even with all that is going on here lately. It's going to work just a little differently this year though-Each family needs to secure a time slot for their pictures, and we will have one family in at a time, to reduce the chance of infection spread as much as we possibly can. We are also on hand to help pick out any outfits or accessories you may need for these pictures, as well as any Easter Basket supplies you may still be lacking. We are here to help you, and we LOVE doing it, so please don't hesitate to tell us if you need anything at all! So here's to a little festive normal in all our lives-and P.S.-Easter basket goodies are 15% off with code easter15!
Spring Break season is fast approaching, my loves! We here at Pink N Blue Avenue are here to make your life (and trip!) soooo much easier! At our shop, we carry a variety of swimwear in all sizes, as well as sunhats, goggles, towels, sunglasses (even in itty bitty sizes!)-basically anything you could need for your trip to the beach or pool. We also pride ourselves on having an amazing selection of sandals from Saltwater Sandals and Footmates! Also in stock are cute puddle jump covers by Charming Mary, because, let's be honest...Some of the prints puddle jumpers come in aren't all that cute.
Besides ALL that cuteness, we also stock a HUGE variety of that amazing, all purpose bag, the Bogg Bag! We have so many colors in stock, in both the large and small sizes. We also carry the cooler insert bags, great for keeping your snacks and drinks cool on those hot days! They fit right inside your Bogg. Heck, they were MADE for it! Nasty wet swimsuits are a thing of the past as well, as we have the super cool printed insert bags. They come in sets of two, and the larger size is perfect for taking home those sandy, wet suits, while the smaller one is great for keeping your phones and other valuables safe from the sand and surf! Bogg is even coming out with a wine tote! So keep an eye out-those are going to be super nifty! Stop in, or stock up online, because truly, it will save you so much time and hassle. And we moms know a thing or two about saving time and effort when it comes to busy beach days, right?!
Award-winning silhouette artist and bestselling children's book author Mr. Clay Rice will be joining us again at Pink N Blue Avenue on Sunday, March 15, from 1pm-4pm. We are so very honored to be hosting this incredible artist, as his work is feature in some of South Carolina's museums permanently, and beyond that, he's just an amazingly nice man, and so very good with children! These are one of a kind heirloom pieces, done specifically of your child. They make amazing mementos and gifts, and who doesn't love something so classic and timeless gracing their walls?
One of Clay's favorite foods is a little something called pilau. Now, its pronounced "per-low", and is a hearty and satisfying dish that is completely unique to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Deeeelish!
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divideed
- 1 chicken, cut up
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 roll of beef sausage, sliced
- 2 cups long-grain white rice
- salt to taste
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
In a Dutch oven over medium heat, brown the chicken and sausage in two tablespoons of the oil. Remove chicken and set aside. Add the onion to the drippings, and sauté until tender.
Place the chicken back into the pot, and simmer in one cup of the chicken broth until the chicken is tender, about 40 minutes.
Remove chicken, pour off and reserve the pan juices. Allow chicken to cool, skin and debone.
Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil and add the rice and sauté, until it looks opaque. Add the salt and pepper, pour the reserved pan juices back into the pot and add cover and simmer until the rice is tender, adding more chicken broth if needed. Add the chicken pieces to the rice; heat 2 to 3 minutes. Adjust seasoning and serve.
